Why I’m Now Focusing on Writing and Publishing My Own Books

Dear readers,

Writing has always been my passion, and like many authors, I once dreamed of a traditional publishing deal—a validation of my work, a gateway to wider audiences, and the belief that my stories deserved to be read. But the publishing industry doesn’t always embrace the unconventional, and that’s exactly what my work—especially with AI—has become.

I initially submitted Under the Orange Tree, the first book of The Humanity Trilogy, to Finnish publishing houses. Some showed genuine interest, reading it carefully, even multiple times. But ultimately, the book was never accepted for publication.

Why not?

Maybe it was because the novel features the brutal and unfiltered murder of a well-known “fictional” populist party leader. Perhaps it was because, before AI-assisted editing, the novel’s structure was raw, its language more minimalistic than polished prose often demands. Or maybe, despite the risk-taking themes and narrative experimentation, it just wasn’t what they were looking for.

But I wasn’t ready to let the story disappear.

How AI Helped Me Bring the Story to Life

Instead of giving up, I turned to AI—not to write the book for me, but to refine and enhance it. AI helped strengthen the structure, elevate the language, and even encouraged me to expand certain characters while cutting unnecessary elements.

Would I have made these changes on my own? Perhaps. But AI provided an outside perspective, an alternative way of seeing the text, and in many ways, it became an invaluable creative collaborator. The result? The Humanity Trilogy became something more layered, more immersive, and more refined than I had originally envisioned.

Taking Control: Becoming My Own Publisher

The reality of today’s publishing world is this: if your story doesn’t fit into an easily marketable mold, it might never see the light of day. Rather than waiting for permission to share my work, I chose to publish it myself.

While I would still welcome a publisher for future books, I’ve realized that I don’t need one to reach readers. I am now fully committed to self-publishing, translating, and ensuring The Humanity Trilogy is available to anyone who wants to experience it.

And that’s where you, the readers, come in.

You decide the fate of this trilogy—not a publishing board, not industry trends, not AI-generated sales projections. Will these books find their audience, or will they vanish before ever gaining momentum?

I believe in these stories. Writing them has been an incredibly meaningful journey for me, and I hope they spark something within you, too—a shift in perspective, a lingering question, a deeper reflection on what it means to be human.

Explore the Author’s Mind: Behind the Scenes of The Humanity Trilogy

Ever wondered what fuels the creative process behind a story? What sparks the first idea, and how does it evolve into a fully realized world? The Humanity Trilogy is more than just a series of novels—it’s an exploration of human nature, morality, and the transformative power of storytelling in the age of AI.

In this blog, I’ll take you behind the scenes of my writing process—sharing the inspirations, challenges, and unexpected twists that shaped the trilogy. From real-world events that wove their way into the narrative to the moment I realized that Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” would define the emotional heartbeat of the story, this is your backstage pass into the mind of the author.

How Does AI Fit into the Creative Process?

One of the most intriguing aspects of writing The Humanity Trilogy was the role of AI in shaping its structure, themes, and even character arcs. While AI didn’t write the story for me, it served as an invaluable sparring partner—suggesting ideas, analyzing patterns, and helping me push the narrative in directions I might not have explored on my own. But does AI truly understand storytelling, or is it just mimicking what has come before? This is a question I keep coming back to, and it’s one I’ll be diving deeper into in upcoming posts.

The Power of Music in Writing

For me, music isn’t just background noise—it’s a portal into the emotions of my characters. ”Blank Space” wasn’t just a song I listened to on repeat; it became a thematic anchor for the entire trilogy. The tension between love and destruction, attraction and danger—these ideas pulse through the core of the story, shaping the characters’ fates. What other unexpected influences found their way into the trilogy? You might be surprised.

What’s Next?

This blog isn’t just about my journey—it’s about the larger conversation between human creativity and artificial intelligence. In future entries, I’ll explore questions like:

  • Can AI ever create truly original storytelling?
  • What happens when AI-generated narratives start shaping our cultural myths?
  • How does the reader’s experience change when they know a book was influenced by AI?

If you’re fascinated by the intersection of technology and literature, or just want to see what goes on inside a writer’s head, you’re in the right place. Let’s start this journey together.

Stay tuned for more insights, and feel free to share your thoughts—because, at the end of the day, storytelling is about connection.
